Hope Academy Fund

Investing to Change Our Future

" A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit ."

Hope Academy Fund is a registered organization in Ghana and the United States committed to inspiring a new generation of servant leaders and changemakers. Our goal is to build responsible and accountable leaders, thriving communities, and transparent governments. Since our founding in 2018, we have grown from serving 30 students in Abutia-Teti, a community in the Volta Region of Ghana, to reaching over 350 students including 150 alumni (Fellows) across the three major communities in Abutia, with the support of over 40 dedicated volunteers.

Our Mission and Core Values

Our mission is to invest in guiding and equipping children with the tools for excellence, servant leadership, and civic engagement for their future success and the success of their communities. We cultivate servant leadership by instilling our core values that guide our students in their personal and academic lives. These values—hope and faith, accountability, responsibility and trust, respect, generosity and service, curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking—are foundational to everything we do. By embedding these values in our students, we are creating leaders who will serve our communities with integrity, compassion, and vision.

Our Approach

Our approach to nurturing servant leaders involves investing in programs for children from Class 4 through Junior High School (JHS), in partnership with schools, churches, and the local community. Our programs are off ered free of charge to students and their families. Students enrolled in Hope Academy are accepted based on teacher recommendations with every eff ort made to ensure gender equity. All participants and their parents sign an agreement to uphold our code of conduct and meet our expectations.

We operate with minimal infrastructure and administrative costs, focusing our resources on our students. Our programs are designed to bolster academic performance, build character, promote critical thinking, encourage intellectual curiosity, and cultivate entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship, and servant leadership.

We deliver high-quality programs by relying on dedicated volunteers, Fellows, parents a, community leaders, local teachers, retirees and business professionals. Our Fellows also receive coaching and mentoring from our supporters to guide them academically and beyond.

Our programs are supported by a diverse group of investors, including family, friends, parents, teachers, pastors, Togbega Gidi V and the Abutia Traditional Council, as well as the broader Abutia community both at home and abroad, andas well as partner organizations. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who has invested their time, talent, and treasures in our mission. Their unwavering commitment has enabled us to build and sustain our programs, directly impacting the lives of hundreds of young people.

Our Activities

We conduct three camps annually, focusing on building faith, reinforcing our core values, and enriching academic skills, particularly in science, mathematics, ICT, and English Language. These camps also incorporate community service, games and extracurricular activities that foster service, teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking.

Beyond camps, we organize excursions to locations such as Kalakpa Nature Reserve, Ho and Mount Gemi with the Canopy Walk in Amedzofe. These trips broaden our students’ perspectives, giving them a deeper understanding of our natural resources, and the world around them.

Community service and environmental stewardship are cornerstones of our program. Our changemakers engage in activities such as community clean-ups, trash removal, painting, tree planting and plastic waste removal and visiting the elderly and sick. These experiences teach service, generosity, responsibility and reinforces the importance of stewardship for future generations.

Our after-school programs, facilitated by our newly established Learning and Resource Center, provide ongoing academic support and enrichment. This center promotes IT and reading literacy, igniting creativity and curiosity, thanks to our partnership with Worldreader and donations from the Longwood Rotary Foundation and Westwind Computers.

We are also deeply grateful for the support of the local and diaspora Abutia community, which has established named scholarships for our Fellows. These scholarships enable our alumni to purchase essential school supplies and are awarded based on demonstrated need, academic achievements, dedication to further education, and a commitment to the community and the mission of Hope Academy Fund.

Our Vision for the Next Five Years

We are committed to continuing the development of servant leaders who will drive positive change in Ghana and beyond. Over the next fi ve years, our goals include expanding our reach to more communities, enhancing and expanding our program off erings, deepening our engagement with volunteers, parents, and the broader community, and scaling our impact through robust local and global partnerships. Additionally, we are dedicated to creating more opportunities for our Fellows, ensuring they have the support and resources they need to succeed.
